A memorial service for Gaye’s family, friends and acquaintances will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 754 S. 4th Street in Philadelphia.

Previously, a memorial service was held for the extended family in Rogers, Arkansas on Saturday, January 5, 2013.

We are saddened to report the passing of Tony Gaye last week. A chapter member since the early 1990's and a current board member, Tony will be remembered by his fellow photographers by his cheerful spirit, colorful stories and generous nature.

Fellowship Overview The Visual Artist Fellowship is designed to help artists within 100 miles of Philadelphia reach new levels in their artistic and professional practice. Selected artists will receive a stipend and a full range of career support over the two-year Fellowship to ensure the successful realization of a career goal or specific project as defined in the application. Artists will be asked to demonstrate a vision for the next level of their professional or artistic practice and a clear plan for CFEVA’s proposed role in reaching it.

General Member Addison Geary sent this evocative video relating to his Unseen Philadelphia entry.  It's hard to predict what his final images will be but it appears as if he's dug deep into some hidden and hypnotic corner of the city.

ASMP Philly member Anthony Wood received 2nd place in the Image 12 photo contest.

Image12 is a nationwide photo contest run by the New York chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers.

The competition was open to all professional, serious amateur and student photographers residing in the United States. Contestants were asked to submit one or more images that were created after January 1, 2011.

One of the big changes for this year's Focus is the publication of the winning images in a beautifully rendered book to be distributed widely to Philadelphia art buyers.  But we didn’t want this to be an average photo book anyone can make online.  We wanted an exceptionally well printed and meticulously crafted publication that conveys all the nuances and graphic strengths of your winning images.

Harris Fogel, Director and Curator of the Sol Mednick Gallery of Photography & Gallery 1401 and Associate Professor of Photography at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, visited Łódź, Poland, to participate in the 11th Annual Fotofestival as one of the festival’s visiting experts.  His trip is sponsored by U.S. Embassy Warsaw.
